Y's Men's Club of Ipoh

The YMCI hosted a fellowship dinner for all its members at Eastern Hotel, Brewster Road, Ipoh
ont he 26th December, 2010, at 7.00p.m. Before the dinner, I was inducted in the presence of members and guest as a member of YMCI. I felt rather honoured and was grateful for the organization to accept me as a member. Its a service duty club, just to help others. That's divine!
Another chapter in life, in Ipoh.

Anglo Chinese School - 1895.

Anglo Chinese School was the first English-Medium school in Kinta. Founded by
missionary Reverend W.E.Horley in 1895. The original building was constructed of
timber and had two storeys and a turret at the centre of the roof ridge. The
Edwardian-style building currently was erected between 1912 and 1914 along
Lahat Road and was designed by architect C.H.Labrooy.

Perak Heritage Society.

The Perak Heritage Society's members must work hard to ensure that our heritage does NOT disappear so that our grandchildren can learn from and appreciate the leaps and bounds that human civilization have made it. In Ipoh I site two main threats to heritage preservation - i). extreme greed ii). rapid economic growth.

Historical Past.

Heritage matters are always my lip words. What saddens me now is, even the authority has ignored or rather sidelined heritage issues. I feel that the importance as part of our heritage is nevertheless immeasurable, and their urgent needs must NOT be ignored. Therefore, the streets and buildings of IPOH are part of the historic character of IPOH. It's a way to relate Ipoh's past lives, they stand as physical evidence of the diverse people who have taken part in the city's growth.

I am just back from Penang and Malacca's heritage sites. As for Ipoh, if it wants to be in the UNESCO's heritage list, then it has to do a lot of homework. As far as I am concern, Ipoh's State Govt and MPI needs to be serious about its heritage buildings and Ipoh's history.

So lets follow Penang and Malacca to at least try to be in the UNESCO's list.

This week so involved with my non-governmental task. It's my way of spending my leisure time.

Go Green

Don't smoke, waste paper, recycle, reuse and save the environment.

Mooncake Festival

Tonight is the mooncake festival reunion dinner. Just to share, in 1376, the Chinese overthrew the Yuan (Mongol) dynasty (1280-1376) in an uprising brilliantly hatched by lantern- bearing messages who delivered mooncakes with hidden messages.

Legenda has it that the time and place of the revolution were concealed in the mooncakes sent to
friends and relatives. The midnight massacre of the Mongols was led by Liu Bowen.

Murders

New sort of murders are taking place in malaysia. No more a safe place to live, need to apply for a gun to use. Trigger free!

Toilet replacing the memorial founrain at Belfield Street

MBI is comfortably constructing a public toilet at the site where it was a public memorial fountain.
The traders at Little India should stand united to protest the building of this toilet. Unilateral decisions...............some of the planners brains are at the pedestrian walkway.

Farlim House

The owner of Farlim House is Foo Nyit Tse, who came from China in the 1880s. He made his fortune in mining. His son Foo Yin Fong with other leading Chinese donated a piece of land in Kampar Road, which today is where Perak Chinese Maternity Hospital is built. His family too had donated a few million ringgit to the Shen Jai School.

Foong Seong Villa

Concerning old buildings, one opposite the poultry market along Laaxamana Road. It's the Foong Seong Villa, which was built by Foong Seong, a foundry owner and tin miner in 1931. This shop lots on the ground floor and a large multi purpose hall on the top floor used for Chinese operas.

Pudu Jail demolished.

Its sad for the heritage lovers for the government to be demolished.

UNESCO status for IPOH

The idea of placing IPOH into UNESCO list is remarkable. But I wonder what about those
dilapidated buildings in Ipoh? Will the State Government conserve and renovate these old
buildings? A lot of thinking to do.

Clean Place To Eat

Most of the stalls and makan sites in Ipoh are dirty. Aviod eating in public places, take care of
your health which is your wealth.

The dream

I have a dream like Martin Luther King too, get all the people to unite for a common front. But I do
know too, its an impossible dream.

Ipoh Heritage Walk

Today I took part with almost 100 lpohites heritage lovers to tour 24 heritage buildings located within the old town. This event was organized by the Perak Tourism Associaion which launched its Ipoh Heritage Trail map 1. An in-depth briefing of the history and architecture of each heritage building was delivered by Peter Bucher. With me joining the walk was Sook Fun and Eddie Teo, both of them are from the Perak Heritage Society, of which I am the secretary.

Earn to be honest

Tell me where can u find an honest political member? All of are full of phlegm in their brains, philosopher outside, the thief inside. These fellows need the phallus to clean their phlegm in their brains. Then they can become phlegmatic.

Corruption

A political secretary to a Financial Minister2 has been detained for investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. He has 2millions in cash, I could even count it. Imagine how the so called political secretary got that amount of cash. Very immoral leader, a shame to some of our so called leaders.

Hoping very much that 2010 will create more spiritual awareness among most of us.
