hai...today is 30th of December 2011.............just waiting for another year.... meanwhile ...just gonna have my beers and smoke.

JENESYS Program 2011

Finally I have made up my mind to join this program which will be hosted by the Japanese Government. At the moment I am making all travel arrangements, and I scheduled to to depart from KLIA on the 5th of December. Just another 10 days time........wow... time flies so fast!

SMK Tg Rambutan's Family Day

The present Principle, Mr. Mustafa Kamal Ramlee, wanted to organize a school base family day. So we got ourselves organized this event last night, 12.11.2011 Saturday. My wife and me arrived at the scholl about 6.55 pm to help some of our friends to get prepared for the night.

As things were getting in place, I just lazed are around in the wee hours in the school. Something that I never will do during school time. Well at about 8.10 pm things got stated naturally as any other functions. I sang two songs, "My Way" and a Malay number entitled "Gelora" with Pn. Mazatul Akmar Nain. Had some fried noddles, some satay and a bowl of cendol. For the lucky draw, I got a termose (small one).

The night ended for us nearly t 11.00pm, drove back and was in bed by mid-night. Another year for my teaching life !

Faith

Just came back from the Nagamma Hindu Temple at Silibin, Ipoh. Faith in God strengthen one in his daily life.

One More Month.

To be exact, I just have another month to teach for the year 2011. Wow, how fast time flies, I started on the 7th January 1980, at SK Dato Maharaja Lela, Jeram the primary school located at Bt.Kucing, Jeram. Surrounded by trees and kampungs, this school was only school in the kampung catering for nearly for over a 1000 students.

Reporting to Mr. Sabar Bohari, the headmaster on the 5th of January 1980, he directed me to stay with in the school quarters. I has a place finally and some housemates like Elias Jaffery, Alias from Bt. Keroyong, Razali, Khir Johari, Md.Latun, Zunnurin,Md. Kardi and Razali from Bt. Kurau.

I was so excited to start my teaching profession in that school. Now after 31 years, I have lost the taste of teaching due to the system.

Thiruonam Celebrations

The Perak Malayalee Association has cordially invited my family to attend their function on the 9th October (Sunday) at 12.00 noon at Dewan Bandaraya (Town Hall), Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang, Ipoh. This another social function we would be attending, last nite we were at the Kinding Club, Bercham to observe a Saree Queen Contest.

The 2012 Budget

The Retirement age for civil servants extended from 58 to 60 years. The Govt will raise the salary of teachers by 16 to 37 %. Also an additional of half-month bonus will be given out this December.

Big Trouble

This is the material world and there is danger at every step of the way. As springtime comes and summer approaches, and as the mode of person arise very strongly again, lust increases, after the deep modes of ignorance of late winter. This causes everyone trouble.

Hindu Spiritual Meet - 2011.

My wife and I attended a Hindu Spiritual Meet conducted by Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha and Ma Gurupriya at Tropicana in Ipoh. The talk was intended to offer and bring about sufficient enlightenment on the subject. Weather at home or anywhere, amidst people or in society, mind and intelligence are what do matter first and last. Mind alone shapes character, behaviour and interaction. Hindu Dharma has, right from Vedic ages, time-tested values, so values should be uphold at all times. That concludes the talk.

Gluesome Murder

The new Perak Veterinary Department's Deputy Director was murdered at unit F-1-9 of Permai Lake View, Tambun. Dr.Rohani Kasim who was single, was staying alone in the apartment. What a voilent world it is today!

Old Buildings

The built environment is the history of man. Each of these old buildings have their own story lines. Thus, the life of man in the past, its values in the present and directions for the future are embellished on these old heritage buildings. Therefore to save " heritage buildings" and recommend heritage promotion of the buildings through Perak Tourism Board is what one should embark, demolition is not the solution.

Y's Men's Club Ipoh

This club has a lot of planning and gathering. I joined them to " pray for peace". I was told to become the future Hon. Secretary of the club. Position is not important to me, hope to be committed to the core and cause. I appeal to God to guide, for one thing I know..... " Do your best and GOD will do the rest. Hm..........................!

Trigger free council workers.

These days one can read in the papers of how the council workers like to shoot dogs. One such case was they shot a dog in the street. The dog ran back into its house compound, the workers entered the compound , looped the injured animal and dragged it onto the road.

The workers then shot the dog a second time and killed it. The workers were from Central Johor Baru Municipal Council. The workers acts reflects how inhumane they were towards this mongrel.

Wesak Day -2011.

During the early 20th century, a number of ancient sculptures were unearthed in Kinta, mainly in the course of tin mining. One such archaeological evidence was the discovery of a 18 meters bronze Buddha statue in a tin mine in Tanjung Rambutan in 1900.

The Tanjung Rambutan Buddha statue is now believed to being in the possession of Alma Baker's family of New Zealand.

This reflects that Buddhism was introduced in our country a few centuries ago. Buddhism has found its base here long before some other religion set in into this country. That's why one can find Lembah Bujang, Kedah and Gangga Negara (Bruas) was once a base of Buddhism kingdom.

Thus today, we have quite a large number of Buddist in this country. Wesak is celebrated to commemorate the birth, enlightment and death of Lord Buddha because according to Buddhists, all the three events took place on the same lunar date. Happy Wesak Day!

UNESCO Heritage Status

To obtain UNESCO Heritage Status Ipoh will be assessed on 3 outstanding universal values:-

i). multicultural trading town
ii). testimony of multicultural tangible and intangible heritage
iii). melting pot multicultural architecture and township.

Perak State Government and the Ipoh City Council should firstly set up a Heritage Council
and invite people of knowledge in heritage matters to be part of the council. Then slowly but
surely work toward obtaining the status like Penang and Melaka. Can we do it?

Concubine Lane

When u walk along Chulia Street in Penang, off a the street u will find a lane named Love Lane, likewise in Ipoh we have Concubine Lane in Old Town. One of the place that I love to walk through is Concubine Lane (Yi Lai Hong). It's so charming,as I walk through these empty houses, I sometimes pee through the windows. I am just transported to the visions of opium dens, gambling pai kow and of course all those Chinese pretty girls. It reminds me of a mini Shanghai in the middle of Ipoh Old Town.

4giveness

There will be no future without forgiveness. Any process of peace is bound to collapse if forgiveness is missing. So my prayer for the day is " Om, Ganesha, make me an instrument
of your peace, where there is hatred let me sow love". - sundra.

The cloudy days

Life is such these days, very cloudy and unpredicted days. Most of my friends from my work place are shifting out. It all started from Hisham to Seri Ampang, Utaya to Pasir Pinji, Maran to Fair Park, Zambri to Ulu Kinta, Ismaliza to Tasek and next year Hj.Yusuf to retire. These are some of my very good friends, and me still rotting here!

A visit to the Orang Asli Kg.Kerawit, Simpang Pulai.

Some friends and me made a trip to Kg.Kerawit. The purpose of this trip is to distribute some household items to the families in this kampung. We left the meeting point- YMCA at about 8.40am, in about 30 minutes we arrived at the kampung. We meet quite a number of asli families.

We gave the items, and my wife, Prema's parents and me left for Camerons to feel the fresh air.

My Trip To Medan, North Sumatra.

Tomorrow at about 8.25am I am flying to Polonia International Airpot, Medan. I will visit Maimoon palace at Jalan Brig.Jend Katamso. This palace was built by the Sultan of Deli in 1888.
After that i will head to Parapat.

Parapat is a small town on the eastern shore of Lake Toba, about 170km from Medan. Will be spending my night at Niagara Hotel. After breakfast I will be starting my journey to Samosir Island which is in the middle of Lake Toba.

Samosir Island is believed to have been created 30,000 years ago during a massive eruption. Most of the attractions are focused on Batak heritage. My next stop will be Brastagi.

Brastagi is a resort in the Kato Highlands, home of the Karo Batak people of northern Sumatera. Brastagi means " rice store", an area of fertile land with plenty of vegetation.

Back to Medan, the town which was founded in 1590. Then flying back to Kuala Lumpur.

Field Trip

Perak Heritage Society is organizing a field trip to the pre-historic Tambun Rock Paintings this Sunday (30/01/2011).
